Growing up, my family had a special evening “ritual.” Don’t worry, nothing strange—just my mom preparing thyme tea with chocolate and peanuts.

My siblings and I would shout, “It’s time for the ritual, come on!”

Right before bed, we’d gather in the living room and talk about school, holidays in Algeria, life’s challenges, our parents’ childhoods, their love story, prophetic stories, and, of course, our surahs (which we often hadn’t reviewed!).

These moments felt magical, suspended in time. Today, they are some of my most cherished memories.

One day, I asked my dad, “What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given that you could share with me?” He told me to hold on to Allah SWT, no matter what happens, because He is the One who can help me. He also said, “Be mindful of your company,” quoting the hadith: "A person follows the religion of their friend; so, be careful who you befriend."

I never forgot that.

Years later, this “ritual” continues. The conversations with my parents never stopped, and our hearts continue to connect.

This is the spirit behind Qalbeen. We want to bring Allah back to the center of our conversations and lives—creating moments where we talk, grow, share, love, tell stories, and dive deep.
